Today has been one of those perfect Fridays - crisp air, perfect blue sky, afternoon sun streaming into our dining room, a bike ride to the library in search of new weekly finds, and a glass of chilled white wine being sipped as I write this post from our balcony. On a sunny day like today, I am reminded of the importance of appreciating our new surroundings and soaking in the joys of living in Europe.
In one hour it will really be the favourite part of my day! Taking my book to Cafe Buiten (our new local watering hole), sitting on the terrace in the late afternoon sun and waiting for my best friend to join me for an after-work aperitif on his ride home. What could be better than that?!?!? Following drinks on the terrace, we will partake in our weekly Friday night tradition - pizza and home movie night. On the slate for this evening: "Frida".
As for the weekend, once again we find ourselves jumping into it with no obligations or predetermined plans - only the early thoughts of taking a day-trip to the small Dutch town of Delft. We'll wake up tomorrow morning and decide whether or not to do it. A day spent on the terrace in the sun might be more enticing...
Wow Charlotte! That sounds like a dream :) I miss that feeling of "no obligations or predetermined plans". Enjoy them while they last!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing about your trip to Delft. Ever since I read "girl with a pearl earring" I've always wanted to go there! Have a great weekend :)
