Six Months To The Day

WARNING: This post is not really Dutch-related and may be considered a little too "lovey" for some. Read at your own risk!

Six months ago today, I married the man who saw in me what "no one else had looked quite far enough to find".

Marriage has been an amazing gift. I still can't get over how blessed I am to have such a kind, generous, selfless and loving man as my husband. Chris and I recently read the poem below, written by Roy Croft*. We both felt it captured some of our thoughts at this young stage of our married lives. And to think love only gets better with time!

I love you not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I am with you.

I love you not only for what you have made of yourself,
But for what you are making of me.

I love you because you are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern, but a temple;
Out of the words of my everyday
Not a reproach, but a song.

I love you for the part of me that you bring out;
I love you for putting your hand into my heaped-up heart
And passing over all the foolish, weak things
That you can't help dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out all the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked quite far enough to find.
