No, it's not the smell of pot (you always smell that here), it's the smell of garbage. And lots of it.
Amsterdam city cleaners have been on strike for the past week due to a national conflict over the new collective bargaining for all municipal employees in the Netherlands. It's no coincidence that the workers went on strike directly after Queen's Day (biggest street party of the year) and remained on strike throughout the Giro d'Italia bike race that took place in Amsterdam this past weekend. The official word is that the strike will now continue until May 19th. As if there needs to be another reason to have more mice in this city!!!
Needless to say, as the sun shines and the horrid smell of garbage intensifies throughout the city, we are very happy to be heading to Germany's fresh and oxygen-filled Black Forest for the upcoming long weekend!

Wow. Looks like Vancouver prepared you for two things: pot smoke and garbage strikes. Although that looks like a pretty dang bad strike!!
